At the office I’m forced to use a PC for some of my work as our IT department does not want to support Macs internally (for fear of their jobs likely). For those who don’t know, I’m a Mac guy. I like Macs better, do better work on them, am more productive and enjoy the experience of working on a computer that has a end-user in mind.

One thing has been bothering me lately though while working on the PC. Why is it that PC’s lack any reasonable way to take a screenshot?

Apple has this all built-in. I take a screenshot, can crop it, choose the output format (PNG, PDF, JPEG, etc.). On Windows you’re left with either print screen and the labourious task of opening and cropping images or purchasing a third-party screen capture tool. Ridiculous. It’s become such a hassle that I often do screen captures on my mac at home just to save a bunch of time.

Are there legitimate reasons for this windows limitation? Have I missed something? What are your solutions?
