I’m a leader and doer who builds products with deep empathy for users and their needs.
Perhaps your product is just getting started or needs some additional support—short or longer-term. I can help and support you with product management leadership.
What is product management?
In short, Product Management is discovering a product that is valuable, usable, and feasible.
Product management is a role within an organization responsible for the product across its entire lifecycle. Core responsibilities include defining a product vision, setting the product strategy, and executing on it by delivering new functionality that meets customer needs and supports business goals.
Product managers often lead cross-functional product teams composed of designers, developers, and other roles, where they must influence the direction of the team without strictly managing its members. While the daily responsibilities of the product manager are vast, the role is often most associated with championing the voice of the customer, prioritizing what the team should work on next, and aligning everyone around the product roadmap.
Kinds of problems I solve
I most often work with Series A and Series B businesses. But I’ve also worked with larger companies as well. This might take the form of fractional work (1-3 days per week, part-time or full-time) working on:
- Strategy and team alignment/re-alignment
- Improving product practices and how your team works together and collaborates cross-functionally
- Team/people development and hiring — advice, partnering with your talent team, onboarding, and career development and progression
- Coaching
How we work
We’ll chat upfront to ensure clarity and mutual agreement on the problems you need to solve and the outcomes and deliverables.
We’ll have regular weekly check-ins to keep each other aligned and up-to-date and ensure we’re moving forward in tandem while keeping things accountable.
We’ll spend time with your team initially (likely a week or two) getting to know everyone including the core team we’ll be supporting and key stakeholders.
We’ll also spend some time to gain a deep understanding of your business, the products, and what’s happening in the organization. We’ll likely show up to meetings, to see how work is done and how you face the challenges in front of you and your team.
We’ll need access to your internal tools, documents, so we can do work with you and have the full context.
