I’ve started the second of my web analytics courses at UBC. Braden Hoeppner (who’s blog I enjoy when updated) is the online tutor for this course.
The first module in Web Analytics for Site Optimization is on visitor analysis with personas. I was happy to see the course incorporate in Brian and Jeffrey Eisenberg’s persuasive architecture concept. I’ve had the Eisenberg’s books Call to Action and Waiting for the Cat to Bark for a bit and keep re-reading them over-and-over and have been working to get these approaches integrated into what we do at NSCU. I’m even getting my boss to read the books so she can better understand what improvements are needed and where I want to move strategically.
Reading through the class lectures I was stuck with just how much better we could be doing things on the site; how much more empathetic I need to be; and how powerful a persuasive scenario can be when assembled.
